Honors? Rocks.

Can I just say Honors rocks? It is a struggling little program right now, but we are going to pick it up! So here is what has been going on.

The Honors Program has been having a hard time because Prof. Nickerson (the Honors director) has absolutely no time. He is teaching classes for one, works in the SUU library, has a family, is a member of the High Council for one of the college wards, and has many, many other crazy activities and such that eat up all of his time.

Because he is so busy, the Honors Program has been suffering. Actually, all of his activities have been suffering because of his crazy schedule (and the school keeps cutting them, but they won't let him have a secretary...and that is a whole other story). Another reason the Honors Program is suffering is his elite of his first class, the ones who helped him begin the program and helped him run it, have/are graduating and have/are leaving.

This past year the Honors Program has become really run down and we had almost no activities last semester, just the one MAD lecture. Due to this lack of activity--and the general run-downess of the program in general--a couple of my roommates, namely Monica, Melanie, Dacia and I, have decided to try and get the program running again. We are filling in the positions for the Honors Council, since we didn't have elections last year and the council kind of dissolved this year. We had our first meeting last Friday, and scheduled all sorts of fun activities and talked about ideas to get the program back on its feet. It was really fun and I am really excited. Now I just have to learn how to play "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" by the end of March. Ha. Wish me luck.

Anyways, that is what has been going down here in Cedar. I'll keep you posted!
