It has actually been a kind of hard couple of weeks for me. Three people that I knew and cared deeply about have died in the last two weeks. Brother Wood, who was like a grandfather to me, Brother Holm, and Brandon's grandmother. I have been in a state of perpetual shock, I think so many deaths in such a short time has left me slightly bewildered. These deaths have given me a new appreciation however, for the Atonement and also for the healing power of the gospel. It was amazing to see the ward come together for Sister Holm and Sister Wood and how everyone was able to draw strength from each other.
Anyways, on a happier note, I played in the Inauguration of Pres. Micheal T. Benson.
He just became SUU's 15th president. I played in the orchestra for the event and it was actually a lot more fun than I had thought it would be. We played Lord of the Dance as the prelude, the Thunderer March during the procession when President Benson, the mayor and all the professors and other important people like that marched in. We played the Finale to the Firebird Suite as our special number and then the Radesky March as the stand recessioned out of the Centrum. I caught a small clip of the bag pipes as they marched in after the processional was over (they were playing the music for the march outside). Its small and short and you can't really see anything because I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be filming anything because I was in the orchestra.
Anyway, school is going good. I am enjoying my classes for the most part. Work is also going well, even though I feel quite ready for it yet, I am learning how to tutor better. I was called as a Visiting Teaching Supervisor last week. I am excited to have a calling and I can't wait to get started. Well, there is a lot more I could write about, but I really need to get going and finish up on some homework before I start falling asleep in my chair. Sorry this update wasn't that fun and it was kind of scatterbrained and disorganized, but that is a lot how my head is at the moment. I will do better next time! Love you all!
